Rotterdam based creative business advisor and initiator Bastiaan van der Sluis (1987) collaborates with international renowned brands and talents in architecture, design, fashion and art, providing advise and hands-on implementation of Strategy, Branding and Communications. Being a designer, marketer and manager, I cross the traditional boundaries of the creative industries and bring a new perspective to today’s challenges.
I have over 10 years of experience in the creative industry, developing my career by the likes of design, communications and management while working intensively with international renowned offices and talented artists, like MVRDV, Nightingale World and Studio Roosegaarde.
In recent years I've had the pleasure to be working on projects with companies like BMWi (SYNC), Phaidon publishers and Lecturis (MONOGRAPH), Dutch Design Week (WINY MAAS), and Groninger Museum for Daan Roosegaarde’s first major indoor solo exhibition (PRESENCE). In the fashion industry I collaborated with high-end brands such as DIESEL, C.P. Company, G-STAR and Esprit.
I received my Bachelor in Interior Architecture at the Willem de Kooning Academy. Followed by studies in Philosophy at Erasmus University of Rotterdam before enrolling my Master of Architecture at the Rotterdam Academy of Architecture.
In 2011 I was a member of the Willem de Kooning Academy Examination Committee, supporting their annual 3-month ‘Interior Architecture New Student Program’, as well as undertaking a teaching role.
My photography series 'Abandoned Places' was picked up internationally in 2014 and published in magazines such as Hashtag Magazine (London, UK) and Positive Mag (Berlin, Germany).
In 2018 I founded BVDS.
